Age Friendly Communities

The face of rural communities is changing; older adults (aged 65+) presently comprise 11% of the population in rural Alberta. To help rural communities plan for population aging, it's important to recognize the diversity among older adults and the different ways in which they access services, connect socially, and contribute to their communities. Some seniors are stoic, some are active, some are frail, and some are marginalized. In her presentation, Ms. Eales will discuss the diversity among older adults and the ways in which rural communities can create age-friendly settings.
