Mark Lisac

Mark Lisac was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. He received his degree in history from McMaster University, followed by graduate studies in history at the University of North Carolina and studies in journalism at the University of Western Ontario

In 1973 he moved to Saskatchewan to begin five years of work in newspapers and radio in Regina and Saskatoon. He joined the Edmonton bureau of The Canadian Press wire service in 1978 and became its primary legislature correspondent a year later. He joined the Edmonton Journal in 1987 and became its provincial affairs columnist for 14 years; subsequently worked at the Journal as an editorial writer and copy editor. In 2005, he became publisher and editor of Insight into Government, an independent weekly newsletter on government and politics in Alberta.

Mr. Lisac has published a number of books including, The Klein Revolution, published by NeWest Press in 1995; Alberta Politics Uncovered, published by NeWest Press in 2004; chapter on Don Getty in Alberta Premiers of the Twentieth Century, published by Canadian Plains Research Center in 2004; edited Lois Hole Speaks, a collection of speeches made by Lois Hole during the years she was lieutenant-governor of Alberta.

He received the 2005 Wilfred Eggleston Award for Non-Fiction from the Alberta Writers' Guild for Alberta Politics Uncovered.
